Susan Thomas serves as Senior Director, Department of Defense Programs for Express Scripts, Inc, a Cigna company. In her role, she is responsible for leading the client services team that executes and delivers the Department of Defense-specific services and operational deliverables for the TRICARE Pharmacy Program. This program supports the 9.6M eligible TRICARE beneficiaries including all active duty US military, retirees, and their families. Susan is the spouse of a Marine Corps veteran, which offers her a unique perspective on the beneficiary experience for the TRICARE Pharmacy
Program.
Susan’s 20-year career spans the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Currently based in Nashville, Susan most recently led her own consulting firm, Amplified Insights. She worked with corporate clients and nonprofits, many in the military and veterans arena, to help them to streamline their internal processes and build external-facing materials and data-driven strategies and programs to reach new audiences.
Susan served as a Senior Manager and the Strategy and Programs Lead for all of Deloitte’s national corporate citizenship initiatives. In this role, she led a team whose responsibilities spanned Deloitte’s national United Way campaign, sustainability efforts, employee engagement activities, the entire pro bono portfolio, as well as the entire firm’s dedicated military/veterans and K-12 education initiatives.
A role Susan is most proud of was her work as the Vice President of Programs at the USO headquarters in Arlington, Virginia where she led a team that developed and implemented global programs impacting our military and their families. As the spouse of a Marine Corps veteran, this work had a very personal meaning for Susan. In Washington DC, she worked as a Vice President for Reingold, a full-service strategic communications and marketing firm where she built out large-scale communications and outreach campaigns for healthcare associations, nonprofits, and government clients including the Department of Veterans Affairs, the United States Public Health Commissioned Corps, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services among others. For all these clients, Susan helped to shape messages and tailor approaches to reach their intended audiences. Earlier in her career, Susan
also served as a Senior Advisor for the Office of Capital Access for the U.S. Small Business Administration in Washington DC, and as the Manager of a tri-state multi-million dollar fundraising campaign while working for the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia.
Susan has her bachelor of arts in communications and public relations from La Salle University and her master's of business administration (MBA) from Villanova University, both in Pennsylvania. She resides in College Grove, TN with her husband, Eric, and their two children, Violet (8) and Parker (6).
