AFF MCM Teams visit to FBI Laboratory, Quantico, VA

Allied Forces Foundation MCM Teams were hosted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at Quantico, Virginia for a guided tour around the laboratory and facilities.

The Teams were broken up into three groups to visit and learn about mission capability of the FBI’s Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center (TEDAC), Firearms/Toolmarks Unit (FTU) and Explosives Unit (EU).

It was amazing to see how all the evidence is collated and investigated by all these very specialized teams who make up the FBI Laboratory, and also for Wounded Warriors to see these activities that will help stop events happening in the future to our servicemen and women, Law Enforcement and security agencies around the world.

The AFF Teams were very privileged to have the opportunity to see some of the approximately 7500 weapons which are held by the FBI. We were able to see some very famous gangsters’ weapons of the 1920-1930 era, from those of John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd to some of the rarest weapons in the world. We also saw a Sedgley Office of Strategic Services (OSS) .38 (Glove Gun) designed for OSS in World War 2, the first firearm suppressor by Maxim in the early 20th century, and a StG 44 (Sturmgewehr 44) assault rifle 44 which the USSR used to develop the AK47 as we know it today.

This was a very special day made available by the kind support of the FBI team from the Laboratory and TEDAC. Thank you from the all the AFF and Teams from our partner nations.

“Better to die than be a coward” is the motto of the world-famous Nepalese Gurkha soldiers who are an integral part of the British Army.

Following the partition of India in 1947, an agreement between Nepal, India and Britain meant four Gurkha regiments from the Indian army were transferred to the British Army, eventually becoming the Gurkha Brigade.

Since then, the Gurkhas have loyally fought for the British all over the world, receiving 13 Victoria Crosses between them.

First annual fund raiser at “Ireland’s Four Courts” a success

The first annual fund raiser at the “Ireland’s Four Courts”, Arlington VA on the 4th October was a wonderful day and success.

It was a brilliant day at Arlington Four Courts Irish Pub, raising a lot of money for a very good cause (approx. $1,245.00 from the Raffle with kind donations from Camelbak, Patagonia, DC United Football Club, Morton’s Steak House, a selection of last year’s T shirts and a SideXSide Print), and this was the presentation for those of you that couldn’t be with us… a snap shot of our last big event taking wounded soldiers to Scotland for a Highland Yomp and Games.

AFF Presents to the Marines at Quantico

We are proud of the great relationship we at the Allied Forces Foundation have established with the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and why it is key to keep this bond enforced for our wounded warriors and families. This picture shows our thanks to the USMC with a small token of our appreciation from the AFF – a copy of Dean Baer’s painting “Side By Side” – given with heartfelt thanks by AFF Director Stuart Taylor for USMC support towards our nations’ wounded warriors.

Col David Maxwell USMC, Base Commander Marine Corps Base Quantico and his team have been amazing in their involvement and participation in the support of the Allied Forces Foundation MCM events and the wonderful services the USMC gives our nations’ wounded whilst visiting the United States.

Long live this bond and our brotherhood. (Simply put, Semper Fi)
