  • Where do I pick up my bib number and Yomp Packet?
    Yomp Packet Pick-Up will be held at the Military Women’s Memorial (MWM) from noon until 5pm on Friday, 7 November 2025. The Military Women’s Memorial is located at the ceremonial entrance to Arlington National Cemetery, Memorial Avenue and Schley Drive, Arlington, VA. For MWM transportation, parking, and additional information, visit the MWM website at www.militarywomesmemorial.org.
  • Is the Warrior Yomp a Race?​
    No. The Warrior Yomp is intended to be a personal and/or team challenge in which your only competition is you, the distance, and time. The challenge is to finish the Bronze (25 miles), Silver (36 miles), or Gold (50 miles) stage in 24 hours or less. There are no prizes for finishing first.
  • What is a Yomp?
    Yomp stands for “Your Own March Pace.” A Yomp is a long-distance military hike conducted at each participant’s own pace. With an emphasis on long-distance endurance events to build comradery and inspire healing, since 2013, Allied Forces Foundation (AFF) has sponsored hundreds of U.S. and Allied Partner Active Military Members and Veterans in the 50-mile Cateran Yomp held every June in the Scottish Highlands. This challenging event epitomizes AFF’s motto “Fight Together. Heal Together. Side by Side.”
  • What is the Warrior Yomp?
    AFF is brining the Yomp to the U.S.! A first for the U.S., Warrior Yomp will enable participants from all backgrounds to experience the Yomp challenge and sense of pride and accomplishment upon completion. Whether you complete Bronze (25 miles), Silver (36 miles), or Gold (50 miles) you will have accomplished an amazing feat and supported our Veteran community.
  • Wave Start
    Yompers will be assigned a wave start time based their projected goal (Bronze, Silver or Gold) and finish time. All participants must have an official Warrior Yomp bib to access the start line. Start times will be determined in October 2025. Yompers will be given their specific wave start time no later than Packet Pick-up on Friday, 7 Nov 25.
  • Why Take Part?
    Sign up with friends, family, and colleagues to experience an unforgettable weekend while raising money for wounded, ill, and injured Military Members and Veterans. Whichever distance you choose, you will test both your physical and mental limits while hiking through breathtaking scenery and our nation’s capital. Don’t worry if you don’t have a team. Part of the Yomp experience is meeting fellow Yompers along the trail. We will group individuals of similar abilities during the wave start.   • How will I obtain my Yomp Medal?
    Yomp medals will distributed at your final checkpoint. For example, if you conclude your Yomp at the Bronze Checkpoint, you will be awarded a Bronze medal at the Bronze Checkpoint. If you proceed onto Silver but do not make it to the Silver Checkpoint, check in with a Yomp Volunteer. The Warrior Yomp Volunteer will ensure you receive your Bronze medal.
  • When does registration open?
    Registration is Open now! Click here to register
  • How will I obtain my bib and Yomp packet?

  • What if I need help during the Yomp?
    The entire route has cell phone coverage. If you have a medical emergency, dial 911. If you need non-emergency help, dial the non-emergency number listed on the back of your bib. Someone from the Yomp Staff will provide you assistance.
  • How long do I have to complete the In-Person Warrior Yomp?
    You must complete the Yomp within 24 hours from your start time. In order to move on from the Bronze Checkpoint (25 miles) to Silver (36 miles), you must depart the Bronze Checkpoint by 10pm on Saturday, 8 November 2025. In order to move on from the Silver Checkpoint (36 miles) to Gold (50 miles), you must depart the Silver Checkpoint by 2am on Sunday, 9 November 2025. Read less
  • Are strollers permitted at the In-Person Yomp?
    Strollers are not permitted on the Yomp course.
  • Can I keep my timer tracker?
    No! Timer trackers must be returned. Before you leave the course (at Bronze, Silver, Gold or somewhere in between), check in with a Yomp Volunteer and TURN IN YOUR TIMER TRACKER. If you take home your timer tracker, your credit card will be charged a $100 nonrefundable lost tracker fee.
  • When is the 2025 Warrior Yomp?
    The Second Annual Warrior Yomp will take place 8-9 November 2025.
  • Can I register for the In Person Yomp on Saturday, 8 November 25?
    No. Registration for the In Person Yomp closes on Friday, 31 October 2025. If you missed the registration deadline, sign up for the Virtual Yomp!
  • What if I can't make it to Packet Pick Up by 5pm on Friday, 7 Nov 25?
    Yomp Packets must be picked up on Friday, 7 November 25, between noon and 5pm. If you cannot personally pick up your Yomp Packet, you may have a family member or friend pick it up for you. Yomp Packets will not be distributed on Saturday, 8 November 25. If you need additional assistance, email WY@alliedforcesfoundation.org soonest.
  • Is there an age requirement for the In-Person Yomp?
    Yes, all registered Yompers must be at least 16 years old by 7 November 2025 and have consent of a legal guardian or parent.
  • What type of weather can I expect?
    As of Thursday, 7 Nov 24, the Warrior Yomp weather forecast is great! Saturday, 16 Nov 24 Sunrise 6:52am Sunset 4:53pm High 57F Low 39F Humidity 50% Chance of Rain 3% Day - Mostly sunny.   • How difficult is the Yomp route?
    Aside from the distance, the Yomp route difficulty is Easy. The route is relatively flat with a few small hills. The total elevation change from the lowest point (-35.3 feet) to the highest point (29.3 feet) is 64.6 feet. The route is a combination of blacktop, sidewalk, trail, and packed dirt.
  • How can I confirm my registration?
    Each Yomper will receive a Receipt of Registration Confirmation after each registration has been completed to the email used during registration.  If you do not receive a receipt to your given email, please contact  wy@alliedforcesfoundation.org and our staff will assist you.
  • Is there a mandatory packing list?
    Yes! At a minimum, all Yompers must depart the Start with the following: - bib number (clearly visible) - water - appropriate clothing (whatever you need to stay warm and dry*) - headlamp (it gets dark by 5pm) - glow stick (AFF will give you this at packet pick-up) - fully charged cell phone - external cell phone charger (recommended) *The weather is likely to change throughout the day. Yompers may put extra clothes, layers, wet weather gear, etc in a "drop bag." Drop bags will be collected at the Start and transferred to Bronze. If you continue to Silver, we will happily transfer your drop bag from Bronze to Silver. Similarly, if you continue to Gold, we will happily transfer your drop bag from Silver to Gold. Drop bag support is FREE.
  • Who do I contact if there is an emergency?
    The entire route has cell phone coverage. If you have a medical emergency, dial 911. If you need non-emergency help, dial the non-emergency number listed on the back of your bib. We will have medical support at Bronze, Silver, and Gold as well as mobile medical along the route. If an emergency occurs, deal with the emergency first. When able, dial the number on the back of your bib for Yomp Staff situational awareness.
  • What is the Warrior Yomp Timeline?

  • Does the Yomp sell out?
    Yes! Yomp participation is limited and expected to sell out. Purchase your registration early.
  • Does the Warrior Yomp offer deferrals, cancellations, or refunds?
    The Warrior Yomp does not offer registration deferrals, cancellations or refunds. The only exceptions to this policy are Military Members on official deployment orders.  If this applies to you, contact us at wy@alliedforcesfoundation.org.
  • Is there a mandatory uniform?
    No! We want you to be comfortable. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for a 25, 36, or 50 mile hike. Teams are encouraged to wear team shirts and/or team colors to stand out.
  • Do I have to complete the entire distance all at once?
    No! While most participants complete their Virtual Yomp all at once, we understand that not everyone is able to complete 25, 36, or 50 miles in one outing. Others like to set a goal and chip away at it over the course of a month (or longer), which is perfectly fine too! The Virtual Yomp option is offered to provide motivation to help with your personal goal setting, while raising money for our wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans. Set your goal – whatever that may be – and go out and accomplish it! Along the way, please continue to raise donations for Allied Forces Foundation and those we support.
  • What happens if it rains?
    The Warrior Yomp will be held rain or shine. Registration is final. There are no refunds
  • What is a virtual Yomp?
    A virtual Yomp can be completed anytime and anywhere, even indoors on a treadmill.
  • Is there parking at Gravelly Point?
    We are updating the 2025 parking plan. Check back for updates.
  • Can a friend or family member pick me up at Gold?
    Yes! If you would like a friend or family member to meet you at Gold, AFF will provide you a Warrior Yomp Gravelly Point (WYGP) Night Parking Pass. Although Gravelly Point will be closed to be public from sunset on Saturday, 8 November 25 to sunrise on Sunday, 9 November 25, those will a WYGP Night Access Parking Pass will be able to enter the park. WYGP Night Parking Passes are only valid starting at 6pm on Saturday, 8 November 25.
  • How do I get from the Crystal City Parking Garage to the Yomp Start?
    No matter how to get to Crystal City (metro, car, rideshare, skip, or early morning job), AFF will provide a FREE shuttle for Yompers from Crystal City to Gravelly Point on Saturday, 8 November 25. The Yomp Shuttle will pick-up Yompers at the corner of Crystal Drive and 23rd Street South at approximately 0730, 0750, and 0810. If interested in this service, click here to reserve a spot.
  • Where is parking in Crystal City?
    Crystal City has a number of parking garages that are free on weekends. The closest free parking garage to the Yomp Shuttle pick-up point is Sympark Services Center. This garage is open 24/7.   • How do I sign up for a shuttle?
    We are looking forward to seeing you at the Second Annual Warrior Yomp on Saturday, 8 Nov. If you are interested in Shuttle Support of any kind, please take a moment to fill out this request form so we can best support you.
  • Where is Yomp parking?
    We are updating the parking plan for 2025. Check back for updates.
  • How do I get from Bronze or Silver back to Gravelly Point or Crystal City?
    If you conclude your Yomp experience at Bronze or Silver, there are multiple ways to return to Gravelly Point or Crystal City: 1) A friend or family member can pick up from Swain Park (Bronze) or Lockhouse 6 (Silver). Parking is extremely limited at both locations and is not guaranteed. 2) Rideshare or taxi. 3) RECOMMENDED - AFF will shuttle Yompers from Bronze and Silver back to Gravelly Point and Crystal City for $10 per Yomper. Shuttles will depart once full and/or based on Yomp timing. We won’t make you wait hours for someone to fill a seat. If you would like to reserve a space in the Bronze or Silver Yomp shuttle, register here.
  • Where is the Military Women's Memorial located?
    The Military Women's Memorial is located at the ceremonial entrance to Arlington National Cemetery at Memorial Avenue and Schley Drive.
  • Where do I Park?
    Parking is available at the Arlington National Cemetery Visitor Center parking facility located on Memorial Avenue. Limited handicap-accessible parking is available on Memorial Avenue in front of the Memorial. While such parking is not guaranteed, requests may be made by emailing memorial@womensmemorial.org at least 48 hours in advance of your visit.

  • Can someone else pickup my Yomp Packet for me?
    Yes! If you are unable to pickup your Yomp Packet, a friend or family member may pick it up for you.
  • How do I get to the Military Women's Memorial?
    Metro The Military Women's Memorial (MWM) is accessible via Metrorail Blue Line. There is no access via Metrobus. From the South Drive north on 1-95. Near the Capital Beltway, I-95 will merge with I-495 & I-395 Take I-395 North toward Washington, D.C. Take Exit 8-B (Arlington National Cemetery exit) to Route 27 Stay in the left lane until reaching the traffic circle on the Virginia side of the Memorial Bridge Bear right in the left-hand lane around the traffic circle to Memorial Avenue. (You will see Arlington House on the hill ahead.) *Note: From 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., the United States Park Police barricades the section of Memorial Circle that connects with the westbound lanes of Route 27, routing traffic across Memorial Bridge toward D.C. and the Lincoln Memorial. Crossing over Memorial Bridge, stay to the right and loop under and back up and over Memorial Bridge to enter the circle, Memorial Avenue and the entrances to Arlington National Cemetery and the Military Women’s Memorial From the North Drive south on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD-295) or south on I-95 until you reach the Capital Beltway (I-495) Take either I-95 or I-495: If you follow I-95, stay on the Beltway to I-395 North Take exit 8-B (Arlington National Cemetery exit) to Route 27 Stay in the left lane until reaching the traffic circle on the Virginia side of the Memorial Bridge Bear right in the left-hand lane around the traffic circle to Memorial Avenue.   • When can I pickup my Yomp Packet?
    All Yomp Packets must be picked up at the Military Women's Memorial (MWM) on Friday, 7 Nov 25 between noon and 5pm. As everyone visiting the MWM must enter through the Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) Pedestrian Gate pass through security, it is recommended you arrive at ANC no later than 4:45pm. This will ensure you have enough time to complete the security screening and walk down to the MWM by 5pm.
  • What will be in my Yomp Packet?
    Your Yomp Packet will include: - Yomp Bib Number (all participants must wear a bib number) - Wave Start Time - Timer Chip - Yomp T-Shirt - Emergency Contact Info - Glow Stick - Much More!
  • What if I don't make it to Packet Pickup on Friday?
    All Yomp participants must pickup, or have someone else pickup, their Yomp packet on Friday, 7 Nov 25 at the Military Women's Memorial between noon and 5pm. There is NO packet pickup on Saturday, 8 Nov 25.
  • Is there a Security Screening?​
    Yes. Visitors of the Military Women’s Memorial must go through Arlington National Cemetery security screening. Security screening provisions are as follows: All visitors 16 years and older (pedestrians, drivers and passengers) must present a valid photo identification. Visitors 18 years of age and older must present a valid U.S. state or federal government-issued photo identification for entry. Visitors 16 & 17 years old who do not have a U.S. state or federal government-issued photo identification may present an official school-issued photo identification for entry. Persons who are not U.S. citizens must present a valid passport or U.S. State Department-issued photo identification for entry.
