Mike Smith is a Senior Vice President with The Wells Fargo Private Bank in Washington, DC where he advises technology entrepreneurs, Government Contracting Executives and Non Profit Endowments and Foundations.
Mike joined Wells from JP Morgan in Washington where he was an Executive Director. Mike joined J.P. Morgan in 2012 from Societe Generale Private Bank in London where he was a Senior Banker and Director. He also managed Soc Gen’s Edinburgh Private Banking Office and resided in the Scottish Capital for 16 years. American born, Smith’s 30 year career in International Banking has focused on advising British, European and Middle Eastern Individuals and Families with SG Hambros, and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in London. Mike also advised Middle Eastern families, designing and implementing Sharia compliant investment and banking structures and holds an Islamic Finance Certification.
He received his BA in Political Science from the University of Hartford and studied International Relations at the American University. He is a member of the Atlantic Council and is a military veteran career transition mentor with the Station Foundation and the Commit Foundation in Bozeman Montana. Mike is also a Board Member of Housing Unlimited, a charity which provides affordable, independent housing for adults in mental health recovery in Montgomery County, Maryland. Raised in Avon, Connecticut and Maine, Mike resides in Washington, DC.
