7 SCOTS Team Trip to Washington DC

Finishing a marathon is a lifetime achievement for most people. But imagine having to complete it after you’d faced a life-changing injury.
In 2 weeks time, a team will swap the green parks of Perthshire for the hustle and bustle of Washington DC.
7 SCOTS are supporting wounded veteran David Birrell and wounded soldier Lance Corporal Mark McCormack to complete the challenge of a lifetime.
They’re taking on the 41st Marine Corps Marathon supported by, and supporting SSAFA and the Allied Forces Foundation.
For the last few weeks, the team have been hard at work in the gym.
6 of them will run the event and 4 will cycle it on handbikes.
It’s been six years since David Birrell was hit by an IED in Afghanistan, he’s now a professional racing driver and wants to complete this marathon to give something back.
During their trip to the US the team will also spend time with American troops and visit key sites like the White House and the Pentagon. But what’s going to be even more special is crossing that finish line.
