Gurkhas to run in the Marine Corps Marathon 2015

Gurkhas have been part of the British Army for 200 years. “Better to die than be a coward” is the motto of the world-famous Nepalese Gurkha soldiers who are an integral part of the British Army.

Following the partition of India in 1947, an agreement between Nepal, India and Britain meant four Gurkha regiments from the Indian army were transferred to the British Army, eventually becoming the Gurkha Brigade.

Since then, the Gurkhas have loyally fought for the British all over the world, receiving 13 Victoria Crosses between them.

 

First annual fund raiser at “Ireland’s Four Courts” a success

The first annual fund raiser at the “Ireland’s Four Courts”, Arlington VA on the 4th October was a wonderful day and success.

It was a brilliant day at Arlington Four Courts Irish Pub, raising a lot of money for a very good cause (approx. $1,245.00 from the Raffle with kind donations from Camelbak, Patagonia, DC United Football Club, Morton’s Steak House, a selection of last year’s T shirts and a SideXSide Print), and this was the presentation for those of you that couldn’t be with us… a snap shot of our last big event taking wounded soldiers to Scotland for a Highland Yomp and Games.
